The following are some of our recommendations and plaudits
AA 5 Star info
Visit Summary
In terms of AA quality standards,Firgrove Country House B&B achieves
a Five Star rating with a B&B designation within The AA Guest
Accommodation Scheme. This rating will replace the previous Four Yellow
Star rating, which will be shown in the 2009 AA Bed and Breakfast Guide,
but new classification will feature on The AA.com web site when next
updated. The Breakfast and Dinner awards will also be carried forward to
2010 AA Guides.Despite their long tenure Philip and Anna Meadway do not
stand still, constantly making improvements to this historic and notable
property.Investment since my overnight visit last year is impressive with
many improvements to bedrooms and en-suite accommodation.
Immaculate maintenance and pristine housekeeping standards also place
this property in a special category and guests are left with a memorable
impression of a home where good food and natural hospitality is matched
by excellent physical standards.

Cymru yn ei Blodau - 2007 - Wales in Bloom
Class 9b 1st Prize
This plantsmans garden is a delight to visit and enjoy.
From the beautifully planted entrance to the more
mature trees and shrubs the garden has a welcoming air.
Structure planting over the years (and still ongoing) give
a sense of maturity while the well maintained lawns with
close mown paths invite exploration of every corner.
The extensive collection of plants is very well maintained
with just sufficient splashes of colour to catch the eye.
A deserved winner of this years competition.

Planning (Listed Building and Conservation Areas) Act 1990
Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest
FIRGROVE LISTED GRADE 2
A Late-Georgian house of C1830. The low service wing to the north is said
to have earlier origins, suggesting an earlier house on the site, and the rear
elevation also looks earlier in character. Shown on the Tithe map of 1839, but
possibly slightly shorter.The wing was extended and altered in the mid-C20;
the house itself restored in the late 1970s
Listed as a good late-georgian farmhouse (with possible earlier origins) in a
prominent position, well detailed and retaining its character.

date listed 16 May 1978, date amended 12 July 2006
