The following are some of our recommendations and plaudits
AA Hotel Services Inspection
14 May 2007 overnight visit
In terms of the new AA Quality Standards, Firgrove Country House
has achieved a Four Star rating. The establishment will also have a
B&B designation within the AA Guest Accommodation Scheme.
Immaculately maintained throughout with a wealth of thoughtful extras
to enhance the guest experience, Anna & Philip Meadway are to be
congratulated for their high levels of customer care. Hospitality is
natural and one feels like an honoured guest, rather than a paying
customer. Services exceeded expectations for nature of business and
breakfast quality continues to justify a recommendation for an award.
It was also a pleasure to experience Anna's innovative skills at dinner,
with clarity of flavours and cooking accuracy creating a memorable
experience, for which a Dinner Award is also recommended. The
exterior and grounds, with an abundance of wildlife, create an
excellent first impression.

Cymru yn ei Blodau - 2006 - Wales in Bloom
A pleasure to visit this plantsman's garden. An excellent collection of
trees and shrubs is beautifully presented and maintained. Firgrove came
very close to being one of the prizewinners this year, and is fully deserving
of a Merit Award. I look forward to further visits.

FIRGROVE LISTED GRADE 2
A Late-Georgian house of C1830. The low service wing to the north is said
to have earlier origins, suggesting an earlier house on the site, and the rear
elevation also looks earlier in character. Shown on the Tithe map of 1839, but
possibly slightly shorter.The wing was extended and altered in the mid-C20;
the house itself restored in the late 1970s
Listed as a good late-georgian farmhouse (with possible earlier origins) in a
prominent position, well detailed and retaining its character.
